Safer. Stronger. Connected.

The Arts District Business Watch formed over the summer of 2024.

After three Broad Street safety issues made the evening news one month, several business owners, with the encouragement of local authorities, decided to form a Business Watch.  Modeled after the Community Watch program, but for businesses, they got together local business owners and representatives to talk safety, share resources and promote a safer and cleaner neighborhood.

Now, the Arts District Business Watch is a collaborative network of local businesses and nonprofits dedicated to building a safer, stronger, and more connected community. Through regular communication, mutual support, and partnerships with local authorities, they work together to promote safety, share resources, and uplift their vibrant, diverse community. Join us in fostering a creative, thriving, and secure environment for all businesses and visitors by signing up for their email list or joining one of their monthly meetings that include local law enforcement, city council and a range of guest speakers from the Daily Planet to local muralist.

We meet the First Monday of the month at 3pm at And Dim Sum (305 Brook Road, corner of W Broad and Adams) to discuss safety issues, network, communicate and find restorative solutions to safety issues like graffiti, homelessness and business and guest security.  All business and organizations in the Arts District and surrounding areas are welcome to come participate. Membership is FREE.

In an effort to cover safety in all areas of the neighborhood, we use block captains- neighborhood business owners who volunteer their time to stay connected to neighbors and their concerns; who alter share this information and progress at our monthly meetings. Interested in being a block captain? Email us at artsdistrictbusinesswatch@gmail.com.

Core Values

1. Safety First
We are committed to creating a secure environment where businesses, their customers, and all members of the community feel protected and supported.

2. Community Connection
We believe in the power of relationships—between businesses, residents, city agencies, and nonprofits—to foster a strong, united neighborhood.

3. Transparency & Communication
Open, honest communication is the backbone of our work. We promote clear information sharing through meetings, newsletters, online forums, and direct engagement with law enforcement and city officials.

4. Inclusion & Support
We value inclusivity and strive to bring all voices to the table — ensuring that every business, regardless of size or background, has a seat in shaping the future of our district. We also aim to uplift all voices in the district—supporting not just business owners but also unhoused neighbors, residents, nonprofit allies, and those working to make the district better for everyone.
